Light
-
Bright, indirect light is perfect.
-
It tolerates lower light, but the leaves may grow smaller and spacing (internodes) gets longer.
-
No harsh direct sun — its velvety leaves can scorch easily.
Watering
-
Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry before watering again.
-
Consistent watering keeps those leaves lush, but avoid soggy soil.
-
Droopy leaves often mean it’s thirsty; yellowing usually hints at overwatering.
Temperature & Humidity
-
Ideal temps: 18–27°C (65–80°F).
-
Loves humidity! Aim for 50–60%+ for plump, healthy growth.
-
It’ll survive in average room humidity, but extra moisture helps prevent crispy tips.
Soil & Pot
-
Use a light, chunky, fast-draining mix (potting soil + perlite + orchid bark).
-
Choose a pot with drainage holes — Micans roots hate sitting in muck.
-
Repot every year or when you see roots creeping out.
Fertilizer
-
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
-
Go light or skip feeding in fall/winter.
Growth Habits
-
Micans is a vining philodendron, so you can let it trail or train it up a moss pole for bigger leaves.
-
Trim leggy vines to encourage a fuller plant.
-
Rotate weekly for even, bushy growth.
