Our Story

Hello! I'm Jamie, mother of two, Horticulturist, SoCal Soul creator and beach-loving barefoot hippie at heart.

As a Southern California native, I grew up surrounded by lush natural landscapes and some of the most incredible plants. As an adult in the Midwest, several years ago, I found my plant loving soul had transitioned into vegetable gardening and houseplants. These plants became my escape through some difficult life transitions and long days in the corporate world. I was burnt out and generally felt overwhelmed by a never-ending to-do list both at work and home.

At the end of 2021 after a lot of consideration, planning, and one giant leap of faith (mixed in with some sheer crazy!) I left my secure 9-5 job to go back to school for a degree in Horticulture. It was time to pursue something that excited me and plants are it!

I now enjoy sharing with others what I've learned at the shop and through workshops, and classes. I hand-pick everything I offer with the intent to provide quality products and plants that will put a smile on your face the moment you encounter them. Life can be challenging and lonely but plants provide a way to create community and improve mental health.

It's my heart's desire by creating SoCal Soul others can also find encouragement to pursue a new avenue of joy that's been building in them.

Our days are filled with dirt under our nails, coffee in our cups, and happy chatter about all things green. We love sharing our knowledge, cheering on your plant successes, and helping you find the perfect leafy match.
