Size

* The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal!

Light

  • Needs bright, indirect light to maintain variegation.

  • Some direct morning or late afternoon sun is okay, but avoid harsh midday sun—it can scorch the leaves.

  • Low light can cause variegated leaves to revert to solid green and slow growth.

Temperature

  • Thrives in 60–75°F (15–24°C).

  • Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).

Humidity

  • Prefers moderate to high humidity.

  • Normal indoor humidity is usually fine, but dry air can cause leaf browning.

  • Use occasional misting or a humidity tray if your home is very dry.

Watering

  • Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings.

  • Water thoroughly, letting excess drain away.

  • Reduce watering in winter.

  • Avoid waterlogged soil, as this can cause root rot.

Soil

  • Use a well-draining potting mix.

  • Ideal: peat-based soil mixed with perlite or orchid bark to allow aeration.

Fertilizer

  • Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer.

  • Skip fertilizing in fall and winter.

Potting

  • Use a pot with drainage holes.

  • Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound.

  • Slightly snug pots encourage root development.

Pruning & Cleaning

  • Remove yellow or damaged leaves to maintain plant health.

  • Prune to control size and shape.

  • Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.

Propagation

  • Propagate through stem cuttings in water or soil.

  • Include at least one leaf and a node for rooting.

Pests & Problems

  • Common pests: spider mites, mealybugs, and scale.

  • Leaf drop: often due to overwatering, changes in light, or stress from moving.

  • Browning edges: usually from dry air or inconsistent watering.

  • Loss of variegation: usually due to insufficient light.
