* The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal!
Light
-
Bright, indirect light is best — lots of light makes those leaves vibrant and encourages baby plantlets!
-
It can tolerate lower light, but growth will slow and the variegation (white stripes) may fade.
-
Avoid too much direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
East- or north-facing windows are ideal.
Water
-
Water when the top 1–2 inches (2–5 cm) of soil feel dry.
-
Give a deep watering until water runs out the drainage holes, then empty the saucer.
-
Spider plants prefer slightly moist but never soggy soil.
-
They’re sensitive to fluoride or chlorine in tap water — if you see brown tips, try using filtered or distilled water, or let tap water sit overnight before using.
Temperature & Humidity
-
Thrives between 60–80°F (16–27°C).
-
Avoid cold drafts or temps below 50°F (10°C).
-
Loves moderate humidity but does fine in average indoor air.
-
You can mist occasionally or place it near other plants for a humidity boost.
Soil & Pot
-
Use a well-draining, all-purpose houseplant mix.
-
Spider plants grow quickly, so repot every 1–2 years in spring or early summer.
-
Always choose a pot with a drainage hole.
Feeding
-
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer (diluted to half strength).
-
Skip fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows down.
Maintenance & Propagation
-
Trim brown tips if they appear (often due to minerals in water or low humidity).
-
Remove dead or yellow leaves to keep it tidy.
-
For propagation, simply snip off baby spiderettes and root them in water or moist soil — they grow roots super fast!
Common Issues
-
Brown tips: Usually fluoride or inconsistent watering. Try filtered water and more consistent moisture.
-
Limp leaves: Underwatering or root-bound plant — check the soil and pot.
-
Pale leaves: Not enough light or needs fertilizer.
