Light
-
Bright, indirect light is the sweet spot.
-
It adores sun — the more light it gets, the more vibrant and “ruby” its colors become.
-
Indoors: a south- or west-facing window works great.
-
Outdoors: give it morning sun, afternoon shade (too much harsh afternoon sun can burn it).
Water
-
Like most succulents, it likes a “soak and dry” routine.
-
Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry, and never let it sit in water.
-
During winter, reduce watering — it goes semi-dormant and won’t drink as much.
Tip: The leaves will slightly wrinkle when it’s thirsty — a handy visual cue!
Soil
-
Use a well-draining cactus/succulent mix.
-
Add perlite or pumice for extra drainage — soggy soil = root rot.
Pot
-
Go for something with a drainage hole, always.
-
Hanging pots or shallow bowls look lovely since it likes to trail and spill over the edges.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
-
Thrives in 65–80°F (18–27°C).
-
Keep it above 50°F (10°C) in winter.
-
Average indoor humidity is perfect — no misting required.
Blooms
-
Ruby Necklace produces tiny, bright yellow daisy-like flowers throughout the year when it’s happy.
-
To encourage blooming:
-
Give it plenty of light.
-
Feed once a month in spring/summer with a diluted succulent fertilizer.
-
Common Problems
-
Green leaves only? → Not enough light! Move it to a brighter spot to bring the color back.
-
Soft, mushy stems? → Overwatering. Let it dry out more between waterings.
-
Leggy growth? → Needs more light or a light pruning to encourage fullness.
Propagation
Super easy!
-
Snip a healthy stem (3–4 inches).
-
Let the cut end dry for a day or two.
-
Pop it into moist succulent soil or water until roots appear.
-
You’ll have baby Ruby Necklaces in no time!
