Rosemary Tree 4”
Rosemary Tree 4”
Light:
• Rosemary needs 6–8 hours of bright sunlight daily. Place it near a sunny south-facing window if indoors.
• If natural light is insufficient, consider using a grow light.
Temperature:
• Keep it in temperatures between 60–75°F
• Avoid exposing it to frost or cold drafts. If outdoors, bring it inside when temperatures drop below 40°F
Watering:
• Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
• Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent standing water.
Humidity:
• Rosemary prefers moderate humidity. If your indoor air is dry, mist the plant occasionally or place a water tray with pebbles nearby.
• Avoid keeping the plant in overly humid environments, as it prefers drier conditions.
Soil:
• Use well-draining, sandy soil or a cactus potting mix to mimic its natural Mediterranean habitat.
Fertilizer:
• Feed rosemary with a diluted, balanced fertilizer (like 10-10-10) every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring through early fall).
• Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can reduce the plant’s aromatic oils.
Pruning:
• Regular pruning helps maintain its shape and encourages healthy growth.
• Remove any dead or woody branches and trim lightly to keep the tree shape.
Repotting:
• Repot every 1–2 years in a slightly larger container with fresh soil. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
Outdoor Care:
• If growing outdoors, plant rosemary in a sunny, well-draining spot. It’s drought-tolerant once established but should still be watered during prolonged dry periods.
Pests and Diseases:
• Watch for pests like aphids, spider mites, or whiteflies. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
• Prevent fungal diseases by avoiding wet foliage and ensuring good air circulation around the plant.
