Size

* The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal!

 Light

  • Bright, indirect light brings out the deepest, richest color in those glossy black leaves.

  • It’ll still tolerate low light (it’s a ZZ, after all), but growth will be slower and new leaves might stay green longer before darkening.

  • Avoid strong, direct sunlight — it can fade or scorch the foliage.

Tip: New leaves start lime green and darken over a few weeks — totally normal!

 Watering

  • Go light on water! Raven ZZs store plenty of moisture in their rhizomes.

    • Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry.

    • Make sure excess water drains out completely — no soggy soil!

  • In winter, you may only need to water every 3–4 weeks.

If you’re ever unsure: underwatering is safer than overwatering.

 Temperature & Humidity

  • Thrives in 65–85°F (18–29°C).

  • Normal indoor humidity is perfect.

  • Keep away from cold drafts, heat vents, or AC units — sudden changes can stress it out.

Feeding

  • ZZs aren’t heavy feeders, but a little nutrition helps them stay lush.

    • Fertilize once a month in spring and summer with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer (half strength).

    • No fertilizer in fall or winter.

 Soil & Potting

  • Use a well-draining mix, like cactus or succulent soil.

  • Terracotta pots are awesome for ZZs because they let excess moisture evaporate.

  • Repot every 2–3 years, or when the rhizomes start crowding the pot.

 Leaf Care

  • Gently wipe the leaves every so often with a damp cloth to remove dust and bring out their natural sheen.

  • You’ll notice the dramatic black tones pop more when the leaves are clean and getting good light.

Pet Safety

  • Like all ZZ plants, the Raven is mildly toxic if ingested — keep it out of reach of curious pets or kids.
