 Light

• Needs lots of bright, direct sunlight—at least 6 hours daily.

• Indoors: a sunny south- or west-facing window is perfect.

• Outdoors: full sun, but if you live somewhere super hot, give it a little afternoon shade.

 Water

• Follow the “soak and dry” rule: water thoroughly, then let soil dry completely before watering again.

• Spring & summer (growing season): water every 2–3 weeks depending on how fast soil dries.

• Fall & winter (dormant period): cut back a lot—maybe once a month or less.

• Overwatering = root rot, its #1 enemy.

 Temperature & Humidity

• Loves 70–80°F (21–27°C) in summer.

• Can tolerate cooler temps (down to about 50°F / 10°C) if kept dry.

• Not frost-hardy—bring indoors if temps drop below freezing.

• Prefers dry air—no need for extra humidity.

 Soil & Potting

• Needs fast-draining cactus/succulent soil.

• Terracotta pot with drainage hole = best choice.

• Repot every 2–3 years in spring, but be gentle with those spines!

 Extra Tips

• Rotate occasionally so it grows evenly.

• If happy, it produces small offsets (“pups”) around its base—you can separate these to grow new plants.

• With good sun and care, it may reward you with cute pinkish flowers in a ring around the top! 🌸

• Handle with care—those “soft” hairs hide sharper spines underneath. Tweezers help if you get stuck!
