Monstera Albo, with its stunning variegated leaves, is a showstopper—but that beauty comes with a bit of extra care. Here’s how to keep yours thriving!
🌞 Light:
Bright, indirect light is key! Too much direct sunlight can scorch the white variegation, while too little light can make it lose variegation. A spot near a sunny, bright window is ideal. If using a grow light, go for one with a balanced spectrum.
💧 Water:
Water when the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so make sure your pot has drainage holes. Use filtered or dechlorinated water if possible—Monstera Albo can be a bit picky about tap water.
🌱 Soil:
A chunky, well-draining mix is best! A good blend includes:
✔️ 50% orchid bark
✔️ 30% peat moss or coco coir
✔️ 10% perlite
✔️ 10% worm castings for nutrients
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity:
Loves warm temps between 65-80°F. Avoid cold drafts!
Humidity of 60%+ is ideal—if your home is dry, use a humidifier or a pebble tray to boost moisture.
🌿 Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer (like 20-20-20 or 10-10-10) every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer. Skip feeding in fall and winter.
📏 Growth & Support:
Albo grows fast with the right care! Since it’s a climber, give it a moss pole or trellis to encourage bigger leaves.
✂️ Pruning & Propagation:
Trim yellow or damaged leaves regularly.
To propagate, cut below a node with at least one healthy variegated leaf and root it in water or sphagnum moss.
🐛 Pests & Problems:
Watch out for spider mites, mealybugs, and thrips. Wipe leaves with neem oil or insecticidal soap if needed.
❌ Brown edges? Too dry.
❌ Yellow leaves? Overwatering.
❌ Losing variegation? Needs more light.
With proper care, your Monstera Albo will be a stunning, thriving plant!
