1. Light
• Bright, indirect light is ideal. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light can reduce variegation.
• If indoors, place it near an east or west-facing window or filtered light from a south-facing window.
2. Watering
• Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
• Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
3. Humidity
• Thrives in high humidity (60-80%). Consider a humidifier or pebble tray if the air is dry.
• Regular misting can also help, but avoid over-saturating the leaves.
4. Temperature
• Prefers temperatures between 65–80°F. Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature changes.
5. Soil
• Use a well-draining, airy potting mix, such as a mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark.
• Adding charcoal or coco coir can improve drainage and aeration.
6. Fertilizer
• Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
• Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
7. Pruning
• Prune as needed to remove dead or yellowing leaves.
• Wipe leaves regularly to keep them dust-free and allow for optimal photosynthesis.
8. Repotting
• Repot every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its pot. Use a pot slightly larger than the current one.
9. Support
• As a climbing philodendron, it may benefit from a moss pole or trellis to support its growth.
10. Pests
• Common pests include spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Wipe leaves with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
