Size

The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal! Light

  • Bright, indirect light is key
  • Can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh afternoon rays
  • More light = better variegation (too little light can make it revert greener)

Tip: A spot near an east or bright west window works great.

 Water

  • Water only when the soil is mostly dry
  • Overwatering is the #1 killer of Hoya kerrii
  • Thick, succulent-like leaves store water, so it’s drought-tolerant

Rule of thumb: If you’re unsure, wait a few more days.

 Soil

  • Needs a chunky, fast-draining mix
  • Ideal mix:
    • Orchid bark
    • Perlite or pumice
    • Coco coir or light potting mix

Good airflow to the roots = happy Hoya roots.

 Temperature & Humidity

  • Loves warm temps: 18–30°C (65–85°F)
  • Normal home humidity is fine, but it enjoys moderate humidity (40–60%)
  • Keep away from cold drafts and heaters

 Fertilizing

  • Feed lightly during spring & summer
  • Use a balanced or orchid fertilizer at ¼–½ strength every 4–6 weeks
  • No fertilizer needed in winter

 Growth & Pruning

  • Very slow-growing, especially variegated forms (be patient!)
  • Don’t cut off long bare vines—new leaves often grow from them later
  • Will eventually climb or trail; a small trellis is a great idea

 Common Issues

  • Wrinkled leaves: underwatering or root issues
  • Yellowing leaves: overwatering
  • Mealybugs & scale: check leaf joints and undersides regularly

 Flowering

  • Blooms are fragrant and beautiful but take maturity + bright light
  • Never cut the flower spur (peduncle) — it reblooms from the same spot
