Light
-
Ideal: Bright, indirect light to full sun.
-
Indoors, place near a south or west-facing window.
-
Can tolerate partial shade but grows more compact with good light.
Water
-
Water when the soil is completely dry—this may be every 1–2 weeks in summer and less in winter.
-
Do not overwater. The thick, succulent leaves store moisture and rot easily if soil stays wet.
-
Use the "soak and dry" method: water thoroughly, then let the pot drain completely.
Humidity
-
Thrives in low to average humidity.
-
No extra humidity needed—ideal for dry indoor environments.
Temperature
-
Optimal: 65–85°F (18–29°C)
-
Can tolerate brief dips to 40°F (4°C), but avoid frost.
-
Bring indoors when temperatures fall below 50°F (10°C) if grown outside.
Soil
-
Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix.
-
Amend with perlite or coarse sand if your mix retains too much moisture.
Fertilizer
-
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted succulent fertilizer.
-
No feeding needed in fall or winter.
Potting & Repotting
-
Choose a pot with drainage holes.
-
Repot every 2–3 years or when rootbound, ideally in spring.
-
Don’t water for a few days after repotting to avoid root rot.
Pruning & Propagation
-
Prune to shape or remove leggy growth.
-
Easily propagated via stem cuttings:
-
Cut a healthy stem.
-
Let it callous for a day or two.
-
Plant in dry succulent soil and water lightly after a week.
