Size

* The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal!

 Light

  • Bright, indirect light is best.

  • Too little light = faded leaves and slow growth.

  • Too much direct sun = crispy leaf edges or washed-out stripes.

  •  East or north-facing windows are perfect. In brighter west/south windows, pull it back a few feet or use sheer curtains.

 Water

  • Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy.

  • Water when the top 1 inch feels dry.

  • Use filtered or distilled water if possible—Calatheas are sensitive to fluoride, chlorine, and salts in tap water.

If you must use tap water, let it sit out overnight before using.

 Temperature & Humidity

  • Loves 65–80°F (18–27°C).

  • Avoid drafts, heaters, and AC vents.

  • Needs high humidity (50–70%):

    • Group plants together.

    • Place on a pebble tray with water.

    • Run a humidifier if your home is dry.

Crispy edges usually = low humidity or water quality issues.

Soil & Pot

  • Use a well-draining, chunky soil mix:

    • 2 parts peat-free potting mix

    • 1 part perlite or pumice

    • 1 part orchid bark/coco chips

  • Pot with good drainage—never let it sit in water.

Fertilizer

  • Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer (½ strength).

  • Skip in fall/winter when growth slows.

 Maintenance

  • Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.

  • Trim brown edges or yellow leaves with clean scissors.

  • Rotate the pot every few weeks for even growth.

 Extra Tips

  • Prayer movement: Don’t worry if you see leaves lifting up at night and lowering in the day—it’s normal!

  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years in spring when roots peek out.

  • Pests: Watch for spider mites (they love low humidity). Also check for thrips or mealybugs occasionally.
