Pothos Cebu Blue 6"

Pothos Cebu Blue 6"

Light:

Bright, indirect light is ideal, but Cebu Blue can tolerate lower light conditions. However, it grows more vigorously and produces larger leaves when provided with more light.

Avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn the leaves and cause them to fade in color.

Watering:

Water when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry. Cebu Blue prefers moist, but not soggy soil. It’s more drought-tolerant than overwater-tolerant, so err on the side of underwatering.

Water thoroughly, letting excess water drain out of the pot. Make sure your pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Humidity:

Cebu Blue prefers moderate to high humidity (around 50-70%), but it can tolerate the average household humidity level.

If the air is too dry, especially in winter, you can mist the plant or place it near a humidifier to keep the humidity up, which will also encourage lush growth.

Temperature:

This plant thrives in temperatures between 60°F and 85°F. It does not tolerate cold temperatures well, so avoid exposure to temperatures below 55°F.

Keep it away from drafts, air conditioners, and heating vents that could cause temperature fluctuations.

Soil:

Cebu Blue prefers a well-draining, rich potting mix. A good mix for this plant might include equal parts potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark to ensure proper aeration and drainage.

Make sure your pot has drainage holes to prevent water from sitting at the bottom.

Fertilizer:

During the growing season (spring and summer), feed the plant every 4-6 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Avoid fertilizing in the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

Pruning:

Prune your Cebu Blue to encourage bushier growth or to control its size. Trim back leggy stems and remove any yellow or damaged leaves.

Pruning will help redirect the plant’s energy into new growth and maintain its aesthetic shape.

Repotting:

Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. The best time to repot is in the spring when the plant is actively growing.

Use a slightly larger pot and fresh, well-draining potting soil.

Pest Control:

Cebu Blue is generally pest-resistant but can sometimes attract spider mites, mealybugs, or scale.

Inspect the plant regularly, especially under the leaves, and treat infestations promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

Common Issues:

Yellowing leaves: This can be a sign of overwatering. Let the soil dry out more between waterings and ensure proper drainage.

Browning leaf tips: This is often due to low humidity or underwatering. Increase humidity or adjust your watering routine.

Leggy growth: This can happen if the plant isn’t receiving enough light. Move it to a brighter spot or consider rotating it regularly to ensure even light exposure.

Propagation:

Cebu Blue is easily propagated through stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one node and place it in water or soil to root.

If using water, wait for the roots to grow to about 2 inches long before transferring the cutting into soil.

Climbing/Trailing Support:

Cebu Blue loves to climb and will produce larger, fenestrated leaves when given support, such as a moss pole or trellis.

If left trailing, it will still look beautiful, but the leaves will stay smaller. You can grow it as a hanging plant or let it trail from a shelf or pot.

General Tips:

Rotate the plant periodically to ensure even growth and prevent it from leaning toward the light source.

Wipe the leaves regularly to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesize more efficiently.
