Light:

• Provide bright, indirect sunlight or some direct sun. Ideally, it should get several hours of bright light each day, but avoid harsh midday sun, which can burn the spines.

• It can tolerate partial shade but will grow best with plenty of light.

Watering:

• Water thoroughly but infrequently. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

• During the winter, reduce watering significantly, as the plant enters a dormant period and requires less moisture.

Soil:

• Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. You can improve drainage by adding sand or perlite.

• Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

Temperature:

• The Golden Monkey Tail Cactus prefers warm temperatures, between 60-80°F 

• It can tolerate cooler temperatures down to 40°F but should be protected from frost.

Humidity:

• Low humidity levels are best, as this cactus is adapted to dry environments. Keep it in a well-ventilated area and avoid excess moisture.

Fertilizing:

• Feed the plant with a diluted cactus fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

• No fertilizer is needed during winter dormancy.

Pruning and Repotting:

• Prune only to remove dead or damaged stems. Be careful when handling, as the spines can be sharp.

• Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant outgrows its pot, using fresh cactus mix.

Propagation:

• This cactus can be easily propagated by cuttings. Allow cut stems to callous for a few days before planting them in well-draining soil.
