LIGHT
-
Prefers bright, indirect light.
-
Can tolerate moderate light but growth will slow.
-
Avoid direct sunlight—it can burn the round leaves.
-
Rotate regularly for even, symmetrical growth.
WATER
-
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings.
-
Water thoroughly, then let excess drain; avoid waterlogging.
-
Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.
SOIL
-
Use a well-draining potting mix: standard houseplant soil + perlite or sand.
-
Avoid heavy, compacted soils that retain too much moisture.
HUMIDITY
-
Prefers average indoor humidity (40–60%).
-
Can tolerate normal household air.
TEMPERATURE
-
Ideal range: 60–75°F (16–24°C).
-
Avoid drafts, sudden temperature changes, or frost.
GROWTH HABIT
-
Upright, compact plant with round, pancake-shaped leaves on long petioles.
-
Moderate growth rate; typically 6–12 inches tall indoors.
-
Produces small, white flowers in rare indoor conditions.
PROPAGATION
-
Easily propagated via pups (offsets) that grow from the base.
-
Separate and plant in moist soil once large enough.
-
Can also root leaf cuttings in water, but slower.
PRUNING & REPOTTING
-
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base.
-
Repot every 1–2 years or when rootbound.
-
Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
FERTILIZING
-
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer.
-
Use a diluted balanced fertilizer (¼–½ strength).
-
Avoid over-fertilizing—roots are sensitive.
TOXICITY
-
Non-toxic to pets and humans.
PRO TIPS
-
Rotate plant regularly for even leaf growth.
-
Bright indirect light helps maintain strong, upright stems.
-
Avoid overwatering—yellow leaves are a sign of excess water.
-
Keep away from cold drafts or hot air vents for healthy foliage.
