  • Indoors: Bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while too little light can result in faded colors.
  • Outdoors: Filtered sunlight or partial shade. Avoid harsh midday sun.


  • Optimal Range: 65-80°F (18-27°C).
  • Avoid: Temperatures below 60°F (15°C) and sudden temperature fluctuations.


  • Preferred: High humidity.
  • Tips: Use a humidity tray, mist the leaves regularly, or use a humidifier.


  • Frequency: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  • Method: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in the winter months.
  • Tips: Use room-temperature water to avoid shocking the plant.


  • Type: Well-draining potting mix.
  • Preferred: A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite works well.


  • Frequency: Every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
  • Type: Balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.
