Ficus Ruby 8”

Ficus Ruby 8”

Light

Ficus Ruby thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, its vibrant red and pink variegation will become less pronounced.

Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering

Water when the top inch of the soil is dry. Generally, this means watering every 1–2 weeks, but it can vary depending on your environment.

Avoid overwatering, as Ficus plants are prone to root rot. Always ensure the pot has drainage holes.

In the growing season (spring and summer), you can water a bit more frequently, but reduce watering during fall and winter.

Humidity

Ficus Ruby appreciates moderate to high humidity. If your home is particularly dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a pebble tray with water.

 Temperature

Keep the plant in a room with temperatures between 60–75°F

Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature changes, which can cause leaf drop.

Soil

Use a well-draining potting mix. A general indoor potting mix works well, but you can add perlite or sand for better drainage.

Fertilizing

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) every 4-6 weeks. There’s no need to fertilize in fall or winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

Pruning

Prune to control the size and shape of the plant. Prune any leggy or damaged stems, and clean up dead leaves to promote healthy growth.

Repotting

Repot every 1-2 years when the plant outgrows its pot. Use fresh potting soil and a slightly larger container each time.

Pest Control

Ficus Ruby can attract pests like spider mites, scale, or mealybugs. Regularly check the plant for signs of infestation, and treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary.
