Size

* The plant photos shown are our stock images used to represent the general appearance, size, and quality of the plant you’ll receive. Please remember that each plant is unique—natural variations in color, shape, and size are completely normal!

 Light

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal — it keeps those variegated patterns vivid.

  • A few hours of soft morning sun is perfect. Too little light = duller leaves, too much harsh sun = crispy edges.

  • East-facing or bright north-facing windows are often the sweet spot.

Rotate your plant every couple of weeks so it grows evenly and doesn’t lean toward the light.

 Water

  • Water when the top 1–2 inches (2–5 cm) of soil feel dry.

  • Give a deep soak until water drains out the bottom, then empty any leftover water from the saucer.

  • Overwatering is the biggest risk — yellow leaves or droopy stems can be early warning signs.

  • In winter, let the soil dry a bit more between waterings.

 Temperature & Humidity

  • Thrives in 65–80°F (18–27°C).

  • Protect it from cold drafts and blasts of hot, dry air (like heaters or AC).

  • It’s fine with normal indoor humidity, but a bit of extra moisture in the air will keep those leaves lush and glossy.

 Soil & Pot

  • Loves a well-draining mix — try one part regular potting soil, one part perlite, and one part bark or coco coir.

  • Always use a pot with a drainage hole.

  • Repot every 1–2 years, preferably in spring, once roots start to fill the pot.

 Feeding

  • During spring and summer, feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer (diluted to half strength).

  • Skip fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows down.

 Pruning & Cleaning

  • Prune in spring or early summer to control height and encourage branching.

  • Wipe leaves with a damp cloth or a soft sponge to remove dust and let them shine.

 Bonus Tip

If your Tineke’s new leaves are coming in pale or losing their cream color, it’s usually a sign it needs more light.
If the edges turn brown, it’s often underwatering or dry air — easy fix with a bit more consistent care.
