Alocasia Polly 6”

Alocasia Polly 6”

Light
- Alocasia Polly thrives in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn, while too little light can stunt growth.

- Place it near a window with filtered light or use sheer curtains to diffuse direct sun.

Watering
- Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry.
- Alocasia Polly is sensitive to overwatering, so ensure the pot has proper drainage.
- In winter, reduce watering frequency as the plant enters dormancy.

Humidity

- Alocasia Polly loves high humidity (60-80%). If the air is too dry, the plant may develop crispy leaf edges.
- Use a humidifier, mist the plant regularly, or place it on a humidity tray with water and pebbles to increase moisture.

Temperature
- Keep the plant in a warm environment, between 65-80°F
- Protect the plant from cold drafts, air conditioners, and temperatures below 60°F

Soil

- Use a well-draining potting mix. A combination of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark works well for retaining moisture without becoming waterlogged.
- The soil should stay evenly moist but never soggy.

Fertilizer
- During the growing season (spring and summer), feed the plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
- Reduce or stop fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows down.

Pruning and Cleaning
- Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage new growth and keep the plant looking fresh.
- Clean the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and improve the plant’s ability to photosynthesize.

Repotting
- Alocasia Polly prefers being somewhat root-bound, but repot every 1-2 years when the plant outgrows its container.
- Repot in spring using fresh soil and a slightly larger pot with drainage holes.

Pests
- Keep an eye out for common pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids.
- Regularly inspect the leaves and treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Dormancy
- During the winter, Alocasia Polly may enter a dormant period, where growth slows or it may lose some leaves. This is normal.
- During dormancy, reduce watering but maintain humidity and warmth. Growth will resume in spring.

Toxicity
- Alocasia Polly is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
