Silver Lace Fern 6"

Silver Lace Fern 6"

Light:

Prefers indirect light or filtered sunlight. It thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions.

Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause damage.

 Watering:

Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

During the growing season (spring and summer), the fern will need more frequent watering. In fall and winter, reduce watering as the plant’s growth slows.

Humidity:

Silver Lace Ferns thrive in high humidity. Ideally, humidity levels should be above 50%.

If your home is dry, consider placing the fern in a bathroom, kitchen, or using a humidifier. You can also mist the leaves regularly or place a tray of water with pebbles under the pot to increase humidity.

Soil:

Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for ferns or a combination of peat moss, pine bark, and perlite works well.

Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Temperature:

Prefers temperatures between 60°F and 75°F

Protect from temperatures below 50°F and avoid placing the fern near drafts or heating vents.

 Fertilizer:

Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer.

No need to fertilize in the fall and winter when the plant is dormant.

Repotting:

Repot your Silver Lace Fern every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound.

Use fresh potting mix when repotting to provide nutrients and improve drainage.

Pests:

Watch for common pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids.

If you notice any pests, treat them with insecticidal soap or neem oil, and ensure the plant has good air circulation.

Pruning:

Remove any yellow or brown fronds to encourage new growth and maintain the plant’s appearance.

Prune back dead or damaged leaves to keep the plant healthy and looking tidy.

Extra Tips:

Dusting: Clean the leaves occasionally to remove dust, which can impede photosynthesis.

Container Choice: Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent excess moisture from accumulating.
