1. Light Requirements
- Prefers bright, indirect light for optimal growth.
- Can tolerate some direct morning light but avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Low light may cause slower growth and smaller leaves.
2. Watering
- Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry.
- Use filtered or distilled water to avoid mineral buildup.
- Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.
3. Humidity & Temperature
- Thrives in 60-80% humidity. If your home is dry, use a humidifier or mist occasionally.
- Ideal temperatures: 65-80°F
- Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and AC vents.
4. Soil & Potting
- Use a well-draining, airy mix, such as a blend of peat moss, perlite, orchid bark, and charcoal.
- Repot every 1-2 years when the roots outgrow the pot.
5. Fertilizing
- Feed every 2-4 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer (diluted to half strength).
- Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows.
6. Pruning & Maintenance
- Trim any yellow or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth.
- Wipe leaves regularly to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.
7. Support & Climbing
- Philodendron Billietiae is a climbing plant, so it benefits from a moss pole, trellis, or stake for support.
- Providing support helps it grow larger, more dramatic leaves.
8. Toxicity
- Toxic to pets and humans if ingested, so keep it out of reach.
