The Monstera Minima (a.k.a. Rhaphidophora tetrasperma) — the “mini Monstera” that’s not actually a Monstera, but totally gives those chic split-leaf jungle vibes in a compact size!
🌞 Light
-
Bright, indirect light is its jam! Near a sunny window, but not in harsh direct rays (those can scorch its leaves).
-
It can tolerate lower light, but the leaves might grow smaller and with fewer splits.
💧 Water
-
Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry.
-
Stick your finger in the soil to check before watering.
-
Water less in winter when growth slows down.
-
Likes consistent moisture but not soggy roots—think “moist, not mushy.”
🌿 Humidity
-
Loves a bit of humidity! Mist it now and then or keep a humidifier nearby.
-
It’ll survive in normal home humidity but will thrive with a little extra 💦
🌱 Soil
-
Use a well-draining mix! A good combo is potting soil + perlite + orchid bark.
-
This mimics its natural environment and helps prevent root rot.
🪴 Pot
-
Make sure there are drainage holes.
-
Repot every 1–2 years or when you see roots peeking out the bottom.
🌡️ Temperature
-
Prefers warm temps: 65–85°F (18–29°C).
-
Keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
🌿 Growth & Support
-
It’s a climber! Give it a moss pole or trellis to grow on and it’ll reward you with bigger, more dramatic leaves.
-
If it’s getting leggy, it might want more light.
✂️ Pruning & Propagation
-
Snip any yellow or leggy stems.
-
You can propagate from stem cuttings with a node—just pop it in water or moist soil, and roots will grow!
