Light

• Ideal: Bright, indirect light.

• Tolerates: Low light, but not complete shade.

• Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water

• Keep soil consistently moist, but not soggy.

• Water when the top of the soil just begins to dry out.

• Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater if possible—this fern is sensitive to salts and chemicals in tap water.

Humidity

• Requires high humidity (60–80%).

• Ideal for:

  • Bathrooms (with light)

  • Terrariums

  • Placement near humidifiers

• Crispy leaves are a sign of low humidity.

Temperature

• Preferred range: 65–80°F (18–27°C)

• Cannot tolerate cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F (13°C).

Soil

• Use a light, well-draining, humus-rich mix.

• A good mix:

  • 2 parts peat or coco coir

  • 1 part perlite

  • 1 part orchid bark or leaf mold

Fertilizer

• Feed once a month during spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer (¼ to ½ strength).

• Do not fertilize in winter.

Potting & Repotting

• Repot every 1–2 years, preferably in spring.

• Choose a small, shallow pot with excellent drainage.

• Avoid root disturbance—this fern has a delicate root system.

Pruning

• Remove dead or yellowing fronds at the base to encourage new growth.

• Use sterile scissors to prevent fungal issues.
