Ficus Alii Braided 10"
Ficus Alii Braided 10"
Light:
• Ficus Alii prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some low light but grows best when exposed to filtered sunlight.
• Avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn the leaves.
Watering:
• Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid letting the plant sit in water, as this can lead to root rot.
• In the winter, you can reduce the frequency of watering, as the plant’s growth will slow down.
Humidity:
• Ficus Alii enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist the leaves occasionally, or use a humidity tray, especially in dry climates or during the winter.
• You can also place it near a humidifier to increase moisture in the air.
Temperature:
• Keep the plant in a warm environment, ideally between 60°F to 85°F (15°C to 29°C).
• Avoid exposing it to cold drafts, as the plant is sensitive to temperature changes and can drop leaves if it gets too cold.
Soil:
• Use well-draining, loamy soil. A standard potting mix with some added perlite or sand for drainage works well.
Fertilizer:
• Feed the plant during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month.
• There’s no need to fertilize in fall or winter when the plant is dormant.
Pruning:
• Trim off any dead or yellowing leaves to maintain a tidy appearance.
• You can also prune to control the shape and size of the plant if needed.
Repotting:
• Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.
• Spring is the best time for repotting.
Pest Control:
• Check for common pests like spider mites, aphids, or scale. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
• Regularly wiping the leaves with a damp cloth can help keep pests at bay.
