Light

• Ideal: Bright, indirect light.

• Tolerates: Moderate light and partial shade, but avoid very low light which leads to leggy growth and dull leaves.

• Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water

• Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil are dry.

• Keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy.

• Allow water to drain freely; never let the plant sit in water.

Humidity

• Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%).

• Can tolerate typical indoor humidity, but leaf tips may brown in very dry air.

• Boost humidity with:

  • A humidifier

  • Pebble trays with water

  • Grouping with other plants

Temperature

• Optimal: 65–80°F (18–27°C)

• Sensitive to cold drafts and temps below 60°F (15°C).

• Avoid placing near vents, heaters, or chilly windows.

Soil

• Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix.

• A mix of potting soil, perlite, and coco coir works well.

Fertilizer

• Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.

• No need to fertilize in winter when growth slows.

Potting & Repotting

• Repot every 1–2 years, or when rootbound.

• Use a container with drainage holes.

• Spring is the best time to repot.

Pruning

• Prune to remove yellow or damaged leaves.

• Trim leggy growth to encourage bushier form.

• Use sterilized scissors or pruners.
