Dieffenbachia Reflector 6”

Dieffenbachia Reflector 6”

Light:

Bright, indirect light is ideal for Dieffenbachia Reflector. It can tolerate low light, but the plant may become leggy and produce fewer leaves.

Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering:

Water the plant when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Dieffenbachia prefers consistently moist soil, but avoid waterlogging.

Reduce watering in the winter when the plant is not actively growing.

Soil:

Use a well-draining potting mix. A general houseplant mix or a mix specifically for tropical plants works well.

Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Temperature:

Dieffenbachia Reflector thrives in warm temperatures between 65-75°F

Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F

Humidity:

This plant prefers higher humidity levels (around 50% or more). If your home is dry, especially in winter, consider misting the leaves or using a humidifier.

Grouping plants together can also help increase humidity.

Fertilizing:

Fertilize with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Reduce or stop fertilizing in the fall and winter when growth slows down.

Pruning and Maintenance:

Regularly remove any dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant healthy and improve its appearance.

You can also pinch back stems to promote bushier growth.

Repotting:
Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use fresh potting mix when repotting.

The best time to repot is in the spring, just before the growing season.

Propagation:

Dieffenbachia Reflector can be propagated through stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one leaf and node, let it callous for a day, then place it in water or soil until roots develop.

You can also propagate by division when repotting.

Pests:

Watch for common pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Ensure good air circulation around the plant to help prevent pest problems.

Toxicity:

Dieffenbachia Reflector is toxic to pets and humans if ingested, containing calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation and swelling. Keep the plant out of reach of children and pets.
