Dieffenbachia 'Blizzard' is such a vibe! With its bold, marbled white-and-green leaves, it brings that lush, tropical energy without being too demanding.
🌞 Light
-
Loves bright, indirect light.
-
Too much direct sun = scorched leaves 😬
-
Too little light = sad, leggy growth and less vibrant variegation.
A bright room but not directly in a window’s spotlight is perfect.
💧 Water
-
Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry.
-
Keep the soil lightly moist, but never soggy.
-
In winter, let it dry out a bit more between drinks.
-
Be cautious: Overwatering is a big no-no for Dieffenbachia!
🌿 Humidity
-
A tropical plant at heart, so it loves humidity.
-
Regular misting, a pebble tray, or a humidifier can help.
-
Dry air can cause browning on leaf edges.
🌱 Soil
-
A well-draining potting mix is key.
-
You can boost drainage with a bit of perlite or orchid bark.
🪴 Pot
-
Needs drainage holes to keep roots happy.
-
Repot every couple of years or when you see roots circling the bottom.
🌡️ Temperature
-
Thrives in warm temps: 65–80°F.
-
Keep it away from cold drafts or sudden temp drops.
⚠️ Safety Note
-
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. It’s called “Dumb Cane” because it can cause temporary speech issues if chewed. Keep out of reach of curious kiddos and fur babies.
✂️ Pruning & Propagation
-
Snip off yellow or damaged leaves as needed.
-
You can propagate by stem cuttings—just make sure each cutting has a node, and root it in water or soil.
