Crocodile Fern 6”

Crocodile Fern 6”

Light
- Low to medium indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate lower light conditions but thrives best in bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering
- Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in the winter months.
- Ensure the plant has good drainage to prevent root rot.

Humidity
- As a tropical plant, it loves high humidity. Use a humidifier or mist the plant regularly. Grouping it with other plants can also help raise the humidity.

Temperature
- Keep it in a temperature range of 60-75°F. It does not tolerate cold drafts or extreme heat well.

Soil
- Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally one that is slightly acidic. A mix designed for ferns or with peat, perlite, and compost works well.

Fertilizing
- During the growing season (spring and summer), apply a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can damage the roots.

Repotting
- Repot the plant every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Spring is the best time for repotting.

Pruning
- Trim away any yellowing or dead leaves to maintain its appearance and encourage healthy growth.

Pests
- Keep an eye out for pests like **mealybugs, scale, or spider mites**, although crocodile ferns are generally resistant to most pests. If you notice pests, treat the plant with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
