Aloe Vera 4"
Aloe Vera 4"
Light:
• Aloe Vera prefers bright, indirect sunlight. A south or east-facing window is ideal.
• It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning, but too much harsh afternoon sun can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
• Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Aloe Vera is drought-tolerant and prefers to be underwatered rather than overwatered.
• In general, water every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce watering in the fall and winter.
Soil:
• Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent mix. You can also make your own by combining regular potting soil with sand or perlite for better drainage.
• Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Humidity:
• Aloe Vera does well in average humidity levels and does not require high humidity.
• They can tolerate dry indoor air, making them suitable for most home environments.
Temperature:
• Thrives in temperatures between 60°F and 75°F
• Protect from temperatures below 50°F, as they are not frost-tolerant.
Fertilizer:
• Fertilize sparingly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted, balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
• No need to fertilize in fall and winter when the plant is dormant.
Repotting:
• Repot every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound.
• Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and use fresh potting mix.
Pests:
• Aloe Vera is generally resistant to pests, but watch for mealybugs, aphids, and scale.
• If you notice any infestations, treat them with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Pruning:
• Remove any dead or damaged leaves to keep the plant healthy and looking tidy.
• You can also trim back any long or leggy growth to promote bushiness.
Extra Tips:
• Aloe Vera Gel: The gel inside the leaves is known for its soothing properties and can be applied to minor burns and skin irritations.
• Propagation: Aloe Vera can be propagated from offsets (pups) that grow at the base of the plant. Wait until they are a few inches tall before removing and potting them.
