Alocasia Mickey Mouse 6"

Alocasia Mickey Mouse 6"

Light
- Prefers bright, indirect light, though it can tolerate some filtered sunlight.
- Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. If indoors, place near a north or east-facing window or diffuse light with sheer curtains.

Watering
- Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of the soil feels dry.
- During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, but ensure excess water drains well.
- In winter, reduce watering as the plant’s growth slows down. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Humidity
- Alocasia Mickey Mouse loves high humidity (60-80%). If you live in a dry climate, you can:
- Mist the plant regularly.
- Use a humidifier or place the plant on a pebble tray filled with water to increase humidity.

Temperature

- Ideal temperature is 65-80°F. It does not tolerate cold and should be kept away from temperatures below 55°F.
- Avoid placing the plant near cold drafts or air conditioners.

Soil

- Use a well-draining, aerated soil mix. A good mix consists of regular potting soil combined with perlite, orchid bark, or coconut coir.
- Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Fertilizer

- Feed your plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Reduce feeding during fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.

Pruning and Cleaning
- Trim off any yellow or damaged leaves to encourage new growth and keep the plant healthy.
- Clean the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow for better light absorption.

Repotting
- Repot the plant every 1-2 years, preferably in spring, or when it becomes root-bound.
- Choose a pot slightly larger than the current one, with good drainage holes.

Pests
- Spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs can sometimes infest the plant. Regularly inspect the leaves for any signs of pests.
- If found, treat with insecticidal soap, neem oil, or wipe down the leaves with a damp cloth.

Dormancy

- Like other Alocasia plants, Alocasia Mickey Mouse may enter a dormant phase during the winter, where it could lose some leaves. This is normal.
- During dormancy, reduce watering, but keep the plant in a warm, humid environment. It will resume active growth in spring.
