Light

  • Ideal: Bright, indirect light.

  • Tolerates: Low-light conditions, but variegation may fade in very dim spots.

  • Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water

  • Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil are dry.

  • Keep soil evenly moist, but never soggy.

  • Reduce watering frequency in winter.

Humidity

  • Prefers moderate to high humidity, but is adaptable to average indoor levels.

  • Boost humidity with:

    • Pebble trays

    • Misting (occasionally)

    • Grouping with other plants

    • Humidifiers (especially in dry climates)

Temperature

  • Optimal: 65–80°F (18–27°C)

  • Avoid cold drafts and temps below 60°F (15°C).

Soil

  • Use a well-draining potting mix—a general indoor mix with perlite or orchid bark works well.

  • Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Fertilizer

  • Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early fall) with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength.

  • No fertilizer needed in winter.

Potting & Repotting

  • Repot every 2–3 years or when roots outgrow the pot.

  • Choose a pot with drainage holes.

  • Aglaonema doesn’t mind being slightly root-bound.

Pruning

  • Remove yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage fresh growth.

  • Can be trimmed to maintain bushy shape.
